Abstract

The study examines academic production on science education generated within teacher-training institutions, drawing on papers presented at the National Congress on Research in Teacher Education (CONISEN). In light of the absence of prior systematic analyses, a quantitative review of studies in physics, chemistry, and biology included in the conference proceedings was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The methodological process involved reading, classifying, and analyzing the papers. As an interpretive foundation, the study incorporates a historical reconstruction and a current characterization of the field, allowing key debates, transformations, and trends to be contextualized. A total of 78 studies presented between 2017 and 2024 were identified, revealing limited disciplinary presence, high female participation, and scarce representation of rural teacher-training colleges and private institutions. These findings provide an overview of the current state of research, highlight institutional gaps, and point to the need to strengthen scholarly production within Mexico’s teacher-training system.
